Traverso 0.42.0
Traverso 0.42.0, almost there ?
On the 'web-end' not much happened, but behind the scenes we're still working hard to get the next release out the door!
We're very excited (as always, of course) by the great new features! It's wonderful to see Traverso playing and exporting all kinds of files, like ogg, mp3 and wavpack!
One of the bigger changes (which still needs a bit of debugging...) is on-the-fly sample rate conversion. Traverso now makes it easy to mix audio files of different sample rates. No matter what sample rate your files are, or what rate your audio cards use, traverso will just do the right thing. (Even when you change the samplerate of the audio card during playback, Traverso will continue to play back at the correct position and resample the audiofiles to the new sample rate!)
Want to mix some 48k dvd audio clips with some 22k vocal samples, and write it to a 44.1k cd? No problem! Don't know what sample rate means? Still not a problem!
Besides these big changes, we made many other improvements and bug fixes: for example, the painting performance of the Waveforms has been improved, as well as the quality of the painting.
Certain routines were reviewed to become lighter-weight and even more Real-Time-safe. The Gain Envelope processing for example has seen a 2-3 times cpu reduction!
And last but not least, we added a more sophisticated backup system, which lets you roll back your project to previous 'saved states'. (Created every time you save your project.)
As soon as all the known bugs have been fixed: Release time!
Until then, well... you'll just have to wait some more, or compile from cvs and give us (much wanted and appreciated) feedback!
Have fun!
